The Sarnia
Major Atom Sting were at home for 2 games this past
weekend.
On
Saturday, at Sarnia Arena, the Sting took the ice to
battle the Brantford 99ers. This turned out to be a
tight game through the first 2 periods with the only
goal being scored by Brantford. With the Sting down
a goal in the 3rd period, it would be a
power play goal by Curtis Marks (assist Tristan
Haagsma) that would finally help ignite the
offense. From this point, the Sting gained momentum
and control of the game with Matthew Torti (assist
Austin Coutts, Jack Smith), Dawson Young (assist
Curtis Marks, Lucas Ross), Jake Vince (assist Devin
Devooght, Justin Houle) and Matthew Torti (assist
Austin Coutts, Jake Vince) rounding out the 3rd
period scoring for a 5 – 1 Sting win. James Dunn
picked up the win in goal.
On Sunday
the Sting would play an entertaining game with the
London Knights Gold team. This was also a tight
checking game through the first 2 periods with no
goals being scored. The Knights would hold a small
advantage in shots on goal, but the Sting defence
would do an effective job of limiting quality
scoring opportunities and Max Musico was able to
turn aside any shots making their way through. In
the 3rd period the Knights were able to
break through on a break away with only 3 minutes
left in the game and the Sting would suffer a tough
1 – 0 loss.
