Ten teams will begin competition Tuesday afternoon,
and all day Wednesday as St. Patrick's High School
hosts the 'Shamrock Invitational Boys Hockey
Tournament' at the Clearwater Arena.
Seven
schools from Lambton County will participate in this
tournament, as well as teams from Ridgetown District
High School, Lambton-Kent Composite School and St.
Thomas of Vilanova. The twos are divided into two
divisions, Green and Gold, and will play three round
robin games each. The playoffs will follow on
Wednesday afternoon after the seeding is completed.
Last year,
St. Clair won the championship, with an exciting
overtime shootout over St. Thomas of Vilanova. Other
past champions include, SCITS, Northern, St.
Christopher's and tournament hosts St. Patrick's.
Organizers
of this tournament see it as a way for coaches to
have an opportunity to observe and evaluate their
teams talent prior to the start of the regular
season, as well as allow players a chance to work on
skill devlopment, tactical play and physical
conditions, as the LSSAA hockey season begins the
following week.
Sarniasports.com will have all the scores from the
tournament, including pictures and game recaps of
some of the games played throughout the tournament,
including Tuesday afternoon games, and championship
games. To access all information on the tournament,
