The Lambton Sting Minor Atoms stretched their winning streak to 3 games with a pair of victories over the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs on the weekend. Saturday night in Dorchester Brock Barber led the way with two goals as the Sting downed the Chiefs 7-2. Nolan DeGurse, Spencer Vandenboom, Hunter Monkhouse, Cole MacKinnon and Ryan Barwitzki also scored for the Sting.

Picking up assists were DeGurse with 3, Vandeboom with 2, and singles from Brandon Neelin, Josh McLean and Hunter Monkhouse. Lennex Jagoo played a strong game in net to notch his first regular season victory.

The two clubs met again Sunday afternoon at the RBC Centre and the Sting took a quick 2-0 lead on first period goals from McLean and Monkhouse. The Chiefs would close the gap to 2-1 with a goal early in the second but the Sting responded with goals from McLean and DeGurse. Elgin-Middlesex would try and mount a charge with a goal early in the third period to make it 4-2 but from there it was all Sting as the boys would score 4 more times to make the final 8-2 Lambton.

Dylan Riddell and Hunter Monkhouse paced the Sting with 2 goals and 1 assist each. Josh McLean also scored twice with single goals from Nolan DeGurse and Spencer Vandenboom. Also picking up assists were Brandon Neelin, Brock Barber, DeGurse (2) and Vandenboom. Liam McCarthy earned the victory in net.

Next action for the Sting is an exhibition contest against the Bluewater Stars in Port Huron on Thursday before returning to league play Saturday with a home game against the Brantford 99ers.
