The
Peewee finals were between the Toros and the Sabre
Cats. The Sabre Cats were not able to open up the
scoring on their first drive, but the Toros would
get a 48 yard run by Ramone Bustillo to open up the
scoring of the championship game. Blake Maxfield
would kick the extra two points and give the Toros a
8-0 lead.
The
Sabre Cats would get good field position after a
failed onside kick, and Kobe Lundy would score on
the first play with a 48 yard run. Nick Vale would
convert the extra kick, and tie the game, 8-8 at the
end of the first quarter.
Lundy would pick up an onside kick on the kick off,
and on the next play rush the ball down to the goal
line. Christian Fanset runs in for a 3 yard
touchdown run to give the Sabre Cats a 14-8 lead.
The Toros would push down the field with run plays
and get down to the goal line. Bustillo would run in
his second touchdown of the game, and Maxfield would
add the extra two points to give the Toros a 16-14
lead at the end of the first half.
The Sabre Cats would get great field position after
a facemask penalty put them deep into the Toros end.
Lundy would open the second half with another
touchdown run to retake the lead for the Sabre Cats.
Vale would add the extra two points. The Toros would
respond with another touchdown run by Bustillo, as
he breaks for 56 yards to retake the lead, 24-22. On
the kickoff the Sabre Cats can't get to the ball
first and the Toros recover deep in their zone.
Bustillo would run for another touchdown on 4th down
to extend the Toros lead to ten points.
The Sabre Cats would not respond and the Toros would
take the ball down to the Cats 5 yard line. They
eventually turn over on downs and the Cats take over
on their own 5 yard line. On the first play, the
ball gets knocked lose and Mitchell Duval snatches
it out of the air for the touchdown. The Toros
add another touchdown on a long run by Maxfield
after he breaks tackles and a sack to score.
The
Toros take the Peewee champions with a 46-22
victory.
