The
Atom championship featured the Storm versus the
Avengers for the Atom Championship. The Storm
offence pulled out trickery in the beginning, using
punt fakes and play action to move the ball down
field into Avenger territory. Keyshawn Jordan, the
Storm QB would fake a pass and keep the ball and ran
for an 11 yard touchdown.
The
Avengers could not get their offence past the first
down markers on their next two attempts, and the
Storm took a 6-0 lead. Jordan would keep the ball
again, and juke through defenders and break tackles
on his way to a 39 yard touchdown run for his second
of the game. The two point kick was good, and the
Storm opened an 14-0 lead.
The
Avengers would move down field on deep plays, but
fumbled to end their drive as Travis Conrad recovers
the fumble for the Storm. Holden Mathany would then
run 63 yards up the middle for a score, and give the
Storm a 22-0 lead.
The
Avengers would fumble again on their next drive, and
the Storm would throw down field for great field
position. Jordan would run it in for this third
touchdown of the game just before the half ended.
The Storm lead 30-0 at the half.
The Storm open the second half with a long deep
pass, before Perry Solomon runs to the left for a 20
yard touchdown. Tyson Mercurio added the extra two
points, and the Storm take a 38-0 lead.
The
Avengers on the kick off return it deep into Storm
territory and begin their drive on the Storm 30 yard
line. After being brought back five yards, Avenger
QB Jamie Cambell scrambles from the pocket, before
rushing up field for a 35 yard touchdown. The extra
two points was good, for a 38-8 score.
The
Avengers keep the momentum going with a recovered an
onside kick. Cambell threw a 35 yard touchdown pass
to Cam shaw and Nathan Khan converts the kick for
the extra two to bring the score to 38-16. The Storm
would reply to this score with 22 yard touchdown run
by Holdan Mathan.
The
Avengers make a last ditch effort to score, going
down field and getting close to the Storm endzone.
But an interception would end the play, and the
Storm would take the Atom Championship, 44-16.
