LCCVI
opened their
regular season
of the LSSAA
Senior Girls
Volleyball with
a 3-0 win
against St.
Francois-Xavier.
The Lancers
controlled the
first two sets
using the serve,
as the team had
seven aces in
the first set,
and eight in the
second. With
hard serves
crossing the
net, St.
Francois-Xavier
was not able to
get the ball
into play and
over the net,
and gave up
points on
errors. The
Lancers took the
first set 25-18.
Vanessa Damn had
three straight
aces for LCCVI
to help them in
the first.
The Second set
started off
better for St.
Francois-Xavier
as Brooke
Bermingham
started with two
aces. But
Janelle McLean
wold serve up
two aces for
LCCVI to take a
lead, as the
Lances begin to
open up a gap.
Jilleen
VanLeerzem would
serve up two
aces of her own,
while Ericha
Lochner served
three aces in a
row to win the
second set
25-10.
Set three saw
the teams remain
even, as St.
Francois-Xavier
looked for their
first lead. The
Lancers opened
up with four
straight points,
while also
serving in more
aces, finding
holes in the St.
Francois-Xavier
lines. But the
Knights would
find room of
their own, as
Anatolia Tessier
would serve in
an ace to close
the gap, and
with the help
from some Lancer
errors, the
Knights would
tie the game at
fourteen each.
The Lancers
would not let a
lead build, as
Kim Sanders
would come down
with a hard
kill, and the
aces would
continue. The
Lancers would
take the third
set 25-18, and
the match 3-0.
St.
Francois-Xavier
next takes on
SCITS on
Thursday, while
the Lancers take
on St.
Patrick's.
