sarniasports.com November 30th, 2010

The Sarnia Major Atom A/AA made the most of the long hike to Burlington on Saturday, taking the game by a final score of 6 – 1.  The boys looked rather sluggish in the first few shifts of the game, but James Dunn was able to make a couple key saves early to keep his team in the game.  Towards the middle of the 1st period Brett Allardyce (assist Justin Houle) put the Sting on the board first and Lucas Ross (assist Dawson Young, Curtis Marks) extended the lead to 2 – 0 before the period ended.  The Sting would score 2 more goals in the second period as they started to take control of the game.  Curtis Marks (Dawson Young, Brett Allardyce) would score a short handed goal and Dawson Young (Lucas Ross) would account for the other second period goal.  Lucas Ross (Dawson Young, Spencer Preece) and Dawson Young (Jake Vince) would add power play goals in the 3rd period.  Burlington would score a goal in the final minute of the game to ruin the shutout for James Dunn, who played a solid game in the net.

On Sunday, the Sting would play an exhibition game against the Petrolia Atom Rep team and would win this game by a final score of 9 -2.  Both teams played fairly evenly through the first period, but as the game headed into the 2nd period Sarnia started to take control.  Scoring for the Sting were Lucas Ross with 3 goals, Curtis Marks 1 goal, 3 assists, Brett Allardyce 1 goal, 2 assists, Matthew Torti 1 goal, 1 assist, Austin Coutts 1 goal, 1 assist, Devin Devooght 1 goal, Dakota Moore 1 goal, Justin Houle, Jack Smith, Tristan Haagsma, Dawson Young and Mackenzie Caley all chipped in with assists.
