The
Petrolia Squires edged out the Monkton
4WheelDrive's in a 4-3 shootout victory Friday
night to start their three game home stand.
Monkton had the lead with two late powerplay
goals, but the Squires would cut into the lead
before the period was out with a late powerplay
goal of their own by Ryan Chapman.
They
would cut into the lead further with Dan Veenema
adding goal from Kyle Gould and Kyle Hills to
make tie the game at two. But Monkton would
retake the lead by adding a late period goal to
put them back up 3-2.
The
Squires would not be out, as Veenema would add
his second of the game on the powerplay to knot
things back up at three in the third period.
Mitch Zavitz and Brad Hull had the assists.
In the
shootout it would be Jeremiah Goodacre would put
the game away for the Squires, giving them a 4-3
shootout victory. With the victory, Petrolia
hands Monkton only their second loss and are
tied in third place in the South Division with a
5-2-0 record.
Petrolia next takes on the Clinton Raiders
Sunday, November 28th in Petrolia.
