The
Alvinston Flyers were not able to move up the
Standings into a tie with Mooretown after they
fall to the Essez 73's, 4-2 Friday night in
Alvinston.
Alvinston opened the game strong with a quick
goal by Brock Pinnell on the powerplay to take a
1-0 lead. The Flyers would hold that lead till
late in the period until the 73's scored opened
up their own scoring and the game with three
goals in three minutes and twenty eight seconds.
Jordan Brohman scored on the powerplay for the
tie, whole Brian Hamlin netted a goal and Tanner
Gallant added a powerplay goal of his own for a
3-1 lead. Essex outshot the Flyers 16-7 in the
period.
But
the Flyers would respond quickly as Jake McPhail
added another powerplay goal just forty-three
seconds into the second period to cut the lead
to one. Despite being outshot 14-8, the 73's
would add one more goal by Blaise Baillargeon to
restore the two goal lead.
From there
both goalies would close the door, as Brandon
Campbell stopped fifteen shots for the Flyers to
keep the game a two goal game. In total e
stopped 35 of 39 shots in the game.
Alvinston still
remains in third in the North Division, two
points back of Mooretown and seven points up on
Blenheim and Dresden. The Flyers take on
Blenheim Sunday, November 29th.
