Two three-goal periods lead to Jr. Kings loss

The Dresden Jr. Kings had two tough periods in which they allowed three goals in to lose to the Belle River Canadiens 6-2 Friday night in Belle River.

Belle River got things started with Chris DiNatale and Branden Larocque each getting a goal and assists in the first two goals of the game. Soctt Chauvin added the third of the period to put Belle River up 3-0 after one. Dresden was held to just five shits this period, while Belle River was able to get eleven on net.

In the second, the teams played close hockey, but Dresden was able to break in with a goal by Cody McPhail late in the period to cut the lead to two. Again they were held to just five shots.

The momentum would carry over, as Dresden would come to within one on another McPhail goal just nineteen seconds into the final period. But DiNatale would add a goal fifty seconds later to restore the two goal lead, and would add another five minutes later for the hat trick to put the Canadiens back up by three. Both goals were unassisted. Dylan Chessell added the final goal late in the third for a 6-2 final.

Tyler Clark and James Shelton each assisted on McPhail's goals, while Chessell had a two point night with a goal and an assist. Eric Steinman stopped 23 of 29 shots on net in the loss for the Jr. Kings.

With the loss, Dresden still sits tied for fourth in the North Division along with Blenheim, but have thee games in hand. There next match will be against the North Division first place Wallaceburg Lakes on Wednesday, December 1st.
