Blackhawks fall short against Mount Brydges

Point Edward Novice Blackhawks were unable to complete the comeback this week against Mount Brydges Red in a 6-4 loss.

After taking an early lead on a goal by Ethan Pereira (assisted by Cole Reinders) at 7:34 in the first, Mount Brydges responded with 3 goals in the last 5 minutes of the first to end the period 3-1.

Point Edward narrowed the gap to 3-2 on an unassisted goal by Cameron Lacroix at 6:27 in the second. Mount Brydges quickly followed with 3 goals in 3 minutes to finish the second with a 6-2 lead.

Facing an uphill battle in the 3rd, Point Edward put the pressure on with 2 short-handed goals. Jimmy Simpson scored the first, unassisted, and had an assist on the second, scored by Ethan Pereira. Jimmy almost scored another but was edged out by the final buzzer.

Luke Crombeen remains tough to beat with a GAA of 1.75 over the first 8 games of the season. This was the Point’s first loss of the season, bringing their record to 6-1-1. They are currently in second place in their division.
