Pacers drop second large victory of the weekend

Sarnia, ON - The Sarnia Pacers played back to back home games, but were unable to snap their losing streak, as the Jr. B Lacrosse team has lost their last eight with a 17-2 loss to the Orangeville Northmen Saturday night at the Clearwater arena.

Orangeville started early with Cody McMahon scoring 1:33 into the first, but Sarnia's Dan Charlton would tie the game for the Pacers. Unfortunately for the Pacers, this would be the only goal they would score till the 7:30 mark of the third period. McMahon would add his second of the period, while Deron Dempster and Parmbir Sohal would score each to make it a 4-1 first period lead.

In the second, Orangeville would double their first period total, while also receiving excellent goaltending by Mike Fournier, who would stop 29 of the 31 shots he faced. The period was highlighted by Deron Dempster scoring three goals in the period, while Duncan Shaw had two goals, Cody McMahon completed his hat trick with a goal, and Tyler Symonds and Jake Thompson added single goals. Shayne Snider also had three assists in the period, as Orangeville takes a 12-1 lead.

In the third, Deron Dempster added two goals to start the period for a game total of six, before Dan Gawne scored the second goal for Sarnia. McMahon would add two goals on the powerplay for the Northmen, while Jayme Szabolcs added the final goal, as Orangeville topped Sarnia 17-2.

Dempster had eight points for Orangeville while Nuncan Shaw had seven. For the second straight games Justin Matthews was pulled in the second period, allowing 6 goals on 20 shots, while Ian Ferguson allowed 10 goals on 32 shots.

Sarnia has allowed 38 goals over the weekend, scoring only 7. Their home stint continues with a game against Wallaceburg on Wednesday, June 1st.
