Wyoming, ON - The Sarnia Braves Baseball Club took home their second road league game in a row with an 11-4 win over the Wyoming Cattlebarons at Canton Park.
The Braves got off to a strong start with Wade Babula, Chris Bright and James Grant all reaching base to start the opening frame. Todd Piirto did a great job for Wyoming as he worked out of the bases loaded jam allowing only one run to count. The Cattlebarons led 2-1 after the first inning.
But, Sarnia struck back in the second, taking a 3-2 lead as Randy Thingstad and Babula came around to score. Wyoming would come back again and tie the game at 3-3 after two.
Sarnia would hit the board again in the fourth inning as Russ Muhlig and Thingstad would count on a Babula single. Cattlebaron catcher Jeremy Park would connect on a solo homerun in the bottom of the frame but that would be as close as the home side would get to Sarnia.
The Braves tacked on five insurance runs in the fifth and another in the sixth on their way to the 11-4 decision. Right hander Nick Baljeu tossed the complete game five hitter in his first start of the season. He struck out 12. Babula, Bright, Grant, Rick Taylor and Mason McCarthy all had RBIs for the Braves.
Sarnia hosts their first home games of the year on June 6th and 7th. Both games are at 7:30pm at Errol Russell Park in Sarnia.
