The Alvinston Indians suffered their first loss of the 2011 campaign, when St. Thomas came to town and handed Alvinston a 3-0 loss. This game was a tight contest, as it stayed 1-0 after the first inning, all the way to the seventh, when St. Thomas added two more insurance runs.
The game pitted Alvinston hurler Kyle Crawford, against St. Thomas ace Ryan Cummings. Young pitcher Crawford did very well on the evening for Alvinston, allowing one hit and one run through 5 innings, but he was finally touched up for two runs in the seventh. Crawford deserved a better fate, as the Indians left runners in scoring position on three occasions. Ryan Cummings had 11 strikeouts in the game for St. Thomas, and allowed only 3 hits, in his shutout victory over Alvinston. Ryan Chapman, Aaron Stocking, and Eric Hyatt recorded the hits for Alvinston.
Next up for Alvinston is a make-up game in Fingal on Tuesday, May 24, at 8:00pm versus Shedden.
