LSSAA track and field championships

St. Patrick's High School - The Northern Vikings were the overall winners over the two day LSSAA track and field championships hosted at St. Patrick's High School on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Athletes competed in 102 different events, represented from seven different schools. Northern was the winner in all six divisions and won 1,279 points. Northern saw first place victories in senior men's 4x100 relay where they finished first and second, Zac Brown won the senior men's 2000 meter steeplechase, Colton Slaughter won the junior boys high jump with jump of 1.65m, while Holly Thomas, Chantal Caraher and Madison Parsons finished first through third in junior women's 300 meters.

St. Christopher's finished in second overall with 693 points. Nicki Parkes won the junior women's 3000 meter run, Caroline Hummell won the midget women's discus with a throw 23.04m, Kevin Willemse won the midget men's high jump with a jump of 1.70m, and Hendrik Vermeulen won the midget men's 800 meter run.

LCCVI came in third with 789 points and saw victories in midget women's long jump as McKayla Eves had a best of 4.52m, Jenna Bolton won midget women's javelin with a throw of 28.06m, Wallace Lang won junior men's long jump with a best of 5.50m, and Michawl Paisley and Michael Gray came first and second in the men's 110m senior hurdles.

St. Clair came in fourth place with 250 points, as Kim Ross won the senior women's 110m hurdles, Brett Storr won the midget men's 300m hurdles, and Dylan Whitebread won the junor men's 1500 meters.

SCITS came in fifth place with 205 points, North Lambton came in sixth with 185 points, St. Patrick's in seventh with 181 points and St. Francois--Xavier had 1 point as Erin McCreath-Frangakis came 8th in midget women's 1500 run.

The top four from each event will move on to the SWOSSAA championships next Wednesday and Thursday. The Wednesday event will be held at St. Patrick's while the Thursday events will be at the University of Windsor. For full results check out the Sarnia Track and Field website. Click Here
