The Alvinston Indians traveled to Springfield Tuesday, for a return matchup with the Springfield Brewers.
Alvinston scored early and often scoring three runs in the first inning, and three more in the third inning en route to a 7-4 win. Springfield scored three runs in the seventh to tighten up the contest, and brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh, keeping to game interesting.
Offensively for the Indians, Chris Drew went deep on two occasions, scored two runs, and had 4 RBI's, while Jamie Shields was 3/4 for the Indians, in the leadoff position, pacing the Alvinston offence. Rookie Chris Sheppard had his first hit on the season for Alvinston, and drove in 2 RBI's on the hit. Patrick Saunders made his Indians debut, playing in his first game. The Indians sent three pitchers to the mound, with John Ferguson earning the win, with youngster Jeff Lyons tossing two innings, and Brad Young inishing the game.
Next up for the Indians is a home contest on Thursday evening at 800pm, versus the Glencoe Astros.
