On Saturday March 26 the Sarnia Jr. Sting Minor Atom MD defeated the North London Nationals 4-0 in game one of the Alliance Hockey MD West finals in London.
After a scoreless first period Collin Zimmer notched a short-handed goal on a shot along the ice that went off a defenders skate and into the North London Net. Gavin Lauzon was awarded an assist on Zimmers goal. In the third period Zac Moore banged the puck in on a scamble in front of the net. Collin Zimmer had a helper on the play. Three mintues later Hayden Griffin fired a high shot from the right boards that found the top corner to give the Jr. Sting its third goal of the game. Ian Bailey and Logan Johnston both assisted on Griffin's goal. With only ten seconds left in the game Collin Zimmer fired the puck into an empty North London net to give him his second of the game. Zac Moore assisted. Cameron Stevens and Stevie Schaefer both played a solid game in net to share the shut-out.
Game 2 of the best two out of three series will be played Thursday March 31at the Sarnia Arena at 6:00.
