Twenty-two swimmers from the Sarnia Y Rapids Swim Team recently travelled to Aylmer for a St. Clair Erie Aquatic League (SEAL) meet.

Emily Houle, 13, placed 1st in the 100M IM and 50M butterfly, 2nd in the 100M breaststroke and 3rd in the 100M freestyle. Brothers Liam and Luke Young (13 and 11 respectively) each added 1st place finishes. Liam’s were in the 100M IM, 50M butterfly and 100M freestyle, and he added a 2nd place finish in the 100M backstroke and 5th in the 100M breaststroke. Luke’s was in the 100M freestyle, and he also came 2nd in the 100M IM, 50M butterfly and 50M breaststroke and 3rd in the 50M backstroke.

The only swimmer from Sarnia in the 7-and-under group, Ayrianna Battson, 7, placed 6th in the 25M backstroke.
In the 8 and 9 year old group, Ciara Brown, 8, came 2nd in the 50M backstroke while Mckenna Jackson, also 8, finished 6th. Nes Tulang, 9, placed 3rd in the 50M freestyle and 6th in the 100M Individual Medley (IM). Kaiden Rawson, 8, came 2nd in the 25M breaststroke, 4th in the 100M IM and 6th in the 25M butterfly and 50M freestyle.

Samantha Bedard and Dylan Cloud, both 9, each placed in the Top 5 in each of their individual events: Samantha placed 2nd in the 100M IM, 25M butterfly and 50M freestyle; 4th in the 25M backstroke; and 5th in the 25M breaststroke, while Dylan finished 4th in the 100M IM, 50m butterfly, 50M breaststroke and 100M freestyle and 5th in the 50M backstroke.
Dariel Gomez, 13, placed 2nd in the 100M breaststroke, 4th in the 100M IM and 100M backstroke, 5th in the 100M freestyle and 6th in the 50M butterfly.

Other swimmers included Jack Biggar, 8, in his first meet; Mavi Deol, 9, who had three Top 10 finishes; Anna Derech, 10, who took more than 7 seconds off her time in the 100M freestyle; Janelle Joosten, 13; Samantha Lefebvre, 11; Madison McKinlay, 12, who improved her times in three events; Lucas Piazza, 9, who improved his 100M IM time by more than 16 seconds; Sophie Stasyna, 13, who had three Top 10 finishes; Olivia Voisey, 8, who came 7th in the 25M backstroke; Trista Walsh, 10; and Abby Warren, 8, who came 7th in the 25M breaststroke in her first meet.
