The Green Machine are the Novice division champions of the March Break Tournament with a 2-1 victory over the White Sabers, Sunday at the Clearwater arena.
In a close first period, the Green Machine would be the first on the board, as Mason Milne was able to beat Nicholas Axani to give the Machine a 1-0 lead.
Owen Chute would get a good chance for the White Sabers to tie the game, but Green Machine goalie Kayden George turned it aside, keeping the game 1-0 after the first period.
In the second period, the Green Machine would attack quickly, as Alex Dafoe speed in on net, cutting in front of the goal and jamming the puck in passed Axani to put Green Machine up 2-0.

They would continue to attack as Ryan Prouix had a chance alone in front, but Axani got enough of the puck to send it wide of the net. Axani would be challenged again by Dafoe looking for his second goal. On much the same move he did before, cutting hard at the top of the crease, but Axani was there, coming out to challenging and causing the shot to go wide of the net, keeping the White Sabers still in the game down by two after the second.
In the third, the White Sabers would close the gap quickly, as 50 seconds into the period, Christian D'Agostini would race down on the wing and at the faceoff dot let a wrist shot go that beat the glove of George, breaking the shutout and cutting the lead to 2-1 with the rest of the period to play.
But Green Machine would be the ones to press for a goal, looking to restore their lead, sending shots on net. But their shots went wide or Axani came up big with saves, keeping the White Sabers still in the game.
With the goalie pulled, the Green Machine couldn't get the puck into the empty net, and the White Sabers would get their chances, but the puck would sail just wide of the net. As time expired, the Green Machine were victorious with a 2-1 close victory to claim the Novice division championship.
