The Sarnia Sabers Red Team won their first game of the March Break Tournament 11-1 over the the Gold team.
The Red team started the game quickly, with Tyler VanSickle making it 1-0 on a wrist shot. Sebastien Frenette would get a chance for the Gold team, but his wrist shot went just wide of the net. Red would get a breakaway chance, but Gold goalie Devon Authier came up with the big kick save to keep the game at 1-0 heading into the second.
In the second period, the Red team began to put goals on the board. Jacob Gould had two goals in the period, scoring on a low wrist shot and a breakaway. Liam Robinson and Aiden James would add a goal each in the second as well.
The Gold team would get their lone goal of the game in the second, as Frenette would skate by the defence for a breakaway and flip the puck over the shoulder of the goalie to get the Gold on the board making it 5-1 after the second period.
In the third Gould would add an additional two goals, one with a long shot on a screened goalie and another on a flip over the shoulder for four goals on the game.
Aiden James would also score a hat-trick in the period for four goals as well in the game, while Dawson Howes added a single for the Red.
Authier came up with some big saves in the third, including a huge kick save on a breakaway chance, keeping his team in the game at all times.
