Sharks score two early in third to take game five over Lakers
sarniasports.com march 13th, 2011

The Wallaceburg Lakers can't find their touch at home like they had in the regular season, as the Lakers lose for the third time to the Wheatley Sharks, 2-1, and face elimination in their best of seven series.

The game was held scoreless after the first period, but it only took Norm Leger 1:56 to score his 4th of the playoffs to put the Lakers up 1-0 at the start of the second. The Lakers held the Sharks to just 9 shots, as neither team could find the back of the net.

In the third, Wheatley would be held to just 6 shots in the period but it would be enough for them. Kevin Swatzky scored his 1st of the playoffs 2:10 into the period to make it a 1-1 game. Just over a minute later, Trevor Grieve would put in his 4th of the playoffs to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead.

Wallaceburg had 12 shots in the period but unfortunaley for them, were not able to beat the Sharks goalie Marc Tremblay, who stopped 28 shots on route to the 2-1 victory. Matt Berglund stopped 22 shots in the loss.

With the loss the Lakers are not one loss away from elimination and making it an all North Division final, as Belle River has already found a spot in the finals after defeating Mooretown 4-1 in their season.

Wheatley can close the series out with a win at home on March 14th.
