announced
that
goaltender
JP Anderson
of the
Mississauga
St.
Michaels
Majors is
the OHL
Player of
the Week for
the week
ending March
6. Anderson
is the
second
goalie to
win the
award this
season after
winning
three games
including
two shutout
victories
with a
goals-against-average
of 1.00 and
save
percentage
of .960.
Anderson
picked up
his
league-best
sixth
shutout and
35th win of
the season
on Sunday
afternoon in
a 4-0 win
over the
Sudbury
Wolves. He
made 29
saves and
was named
third star
of the game.
One day
earlier he
matched a
season-high
with 37
saves
including 16
in the third
period to
hold off the
Oshawa
Generals by
a score of
4-3 on
Saturday
night. His
week began
with a
shutout
performance
on Friday in
a 5-0 win
over the
London
Knights.
Anderson, an
18-year-old
from
Toronto, ON,
is playing
in his third
OHL season
with the
Majors. A
San Jose
Sharks
prospect,
Anderson
signed with
the club as
a Free Agent
earlier this
season. He
leads the
OHL with a
2.41
goals-against-average
and has a
.909 save
percentage
in 48 games
this season.
Also
considered
for the
award this
week was
David Pacan
of the
Niagara
IceDogs and
Mike Cazzola
of the Erie
Otters.
Pacan led
the league
with nine
points in
three games
including
three goals
and six
assists and
highlighted
by a
six-point
game as
first star
of a 10-3
win over the
Sarnia Sting
on Saturday.
Cazzola
picked up
eight points
in three
games with
four goals
and four
assists
including a
four-point
game on
Friday as
first star
of a 5-4
shootout win
over the
Guelph
Storm.
