Lakefield, ON: With the second round in the books
Graham Hill of Bright’s Grove continues to hold the
lead at the Investors Group Ontario Mid-Amateur
Championship at Wildfire Golf Club near Lakefield.
Hill,
25, matched his opening round score with a three
under par 69 on day two to get him to six under par
(138) for the Championship. His round was
highlighted by an eagle at the par five twelfth
hole. Over the course of two rounds the 2005 Amateur
champion has played the par 4’s and par 3’s at even
par and has played the par 5’s at six under par. He
will carry a slim one stroke lead into the final
round on Thursday.
Larry
Cooper of Oakville is a shot behind Hill alone in
second place after posting a 69 in round two giving
him a two-day total of 139 (-5). Despite a bogey on
the second hole Cooper, 54, put together a solid
round which featured birdies at nine, eleven,
sixteen and the par five eighteenth.
Toronto
native Scott Sinclair rounds out the top three with
a two day total of 141 (-3). The 30 year old carded
three birdies to offset a pair of bogeys to post a
one under par 71 in round two and sits three back of
the lead heading into the third and final round.
The
Investors Group Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship
showcases Ontario’s best male golfers over the age
of 25. After the completion of second round play the
field was cut to the low 62 golfers. Final round
action will get under way at 7:30 on Thursday
morning. The final group of Hill, Cooper and
Sinclair will tee off at 10:50am.
