Niagara, ON - The Sarnia Pacers have been officially
eliminated from the 2011 Jr. B lacrosse playoff
picture following a 12-5 loss to Niagara, while the
London Blue Devil's were victorious.
Sarnia needed a win Saturday night and Sunday
coupled with a London loss to make the playoffs.
Things look bright quickly as Mitch Doughty made it
1-0 for the Pacers 53 seconds into the period.
Unfortunately for Sarnia that is all they
would get in the period, as Niagara shut down the
Pacer offer, and replied with three goals, one by
Pierce Abrams and two by Blade Garlow to make it a
3-1 game after one period.
In the
second, Bryson Filipeti made it 4-1 for Niagara, but
Sarnia would respond quickly, as Brandan Burr scored
15 seconds later, followed by Doughty with his
second to make it a one goal game just 1:29 into the
second period.
But
Niagara would respond with two of their own, as
Anthony Patterson would make it a two score game,
and Abrams would get his second of the night. After
Ben Tamming got Sarnia back on the board once more,
Niagara would again end the period with three goals,
as Joe Ditto, Brad Thomas and Filipeti made it 9-4
after two periods of play.
In the
third, Nico Capro made it 10-4 before Kevin Hussey
score for Sarnia. Sarnia could not get any more
goals to fall in place, as Specver Allen and George
Pineda made it 12-5 for Niagara.
Justin
Matthews made 39 saves on 51 shots as the Pacers
could only get 32 shots on goal in the game. Leading
scorers Kevin Conroy and Dan Charlton were held
scoreless in the game and picked up three points on
assists.
London
defeated Welland 11-4 and clinched the final playoff
spot in the West. Sarnia will take on Welland Sunday
afternoon at 4:00pm.
