Sarnia,
On – Despite trailing by one heading into the third
period during Wednesday nights Junior B Lacrosse
match, the Sarnia Pacers managed to shutout the
Wallaceburg Red Devils in the third, while scoring
four goals to snap their eight game losing streak,
and win their second at home and fourth of the
season.

Sarnia
got it started with the early lead, as leading
scorer Dan Charlton scored early to put the Pacers
up 1-0. Wallaceburg would respond two minutes later
with a goal by Jordan Durston. It would take ten
minutes for another score, and Wallaceburg would
find themselves taking the lead on a Matt Kussman
goal.
But
Sarnia would manage to get ahead of the Red Devils,
as TJ Mara tied the game two minutes later on a
powerplay, while Charlton added his second of the
period with 29 seconds left in the period to give
Sarnia a 3-2 lead.
To start
the second, the Pacers found themselves in penalty
trouble, and it cost them on the scoreboard, as
Wallaceburg opened the first half of the period with
four goals. Joel Shepley scored 35 seconds into the
period, Jordan Durston had two powerplay goals to
give himself a hat-trick, and Brandon Lilley score
to give the Red Devils a 6-3 lead.
But
again, Sarnia would rely on their top scorers to
help cut into the lead, as Kevin Conroy, Sarnia's
second place points scorer, scored a pair of goals
including one of the powerplay to bring the Pacers
to within one at the end of the second.
In the
third, Conroy would finish off his hat-trick,
scoring 2:59 into the final period and tying the
game at 6-6. Conner Smith put the Pacers ahead with
his unassisted goal, and two minutes later Charlton
scored his fourth of the game to put the Pacers up
by two. Aaron Schieman would added more insurance
with a late third period goal, giving the Pacers a
9-6 victory.

Justin
Matthews had a strong game for the Pacers, stopping
36 shots of the 42 he faced. Kevin Conroy lead the
Pacers with six points (3G, 3A) while Dan Charlton
and TJ Mara each had 4.
The
victory is the first for the Pacers since May 4th,
and their first victory against Wallaceburg this
season, after failing to defeat the Red Devils 12-10
and 8-7 in their previous two meetings. Sarnia now
sits in third place in the Far West division, six
points back of Wallaceburg and ten behind division
leading Windsor.
The
Pacers have a pair of home games on the weekend,
finishing up their five game home stand. Sarnia will
take on the Spartans on Saturday, June 4 at 5:30pm,
and Windsor on Sunday, June 5th at 7:00pm.
