ON - The Sarnia Pacers lost a close battle in London
despite leading with half a period to play, as the
London Blue Devils came back with two goals to
defeat Sarnia 8-7 in Junior B Lacrosse action.
Sarnia
opened the game quickly, as Kevin Conroy scored in
12 seconds to open the scoring. Dan Charlton would
make it 2-0 five minutes later, as Sarnia owned the
first half of the period. But in the second half,
London would respond as Kyle Stewart would scores
shorthanded, while three minutes later Brendan Chess
would score on the powerplay to tie the game 2-2 at
the end of the first.
In the
second, London would take their fist lead of the
game as Jordan Bennett scored 4:27 into the period.
But soon after, Sarnia would tie it back up as Dan
Gawne got his third of the season to make it a 3-3
game. Sarnia and London would continue to swap goals
back and forth in the period, as Bennett would get
his second of the period followed by TJ Mara for
Sarnia. Wes Kewley would score London's second
shorthanded goal of the game, followed by Conroy's
second of the game to end the second period all tied
at 5-5.
Sarnia
would start the third retaking the lead, as Mitch
Doughty scored his fourth of the season to make it a
6-5 Sarnia lead. London would again respond on the
powerplay with a Matt Muszak goal, but TJ Mara would
get his second of the game to retake the Sarnia
lead. Just over a minute later, London would tie the
game for the sixth time, as Bennett would score his
third of the game. It would take six minutes for the
tie to break, and Muszak would provide his second
goal of the game to give London the lead, and
ultimately the victory.
London
was 4 for 13 on the powerplay, while Sarnia was 1
for 9. Sarnia has lost their last three games since
defeating Wallaceburg a week ago.
Sarnia
and London will play the second half of their home
and home on Friday, June 10th at Sarnia Clearwater
Arena.
