Glencoe, ON - The Alvinston Indians traveled to
Glencoe on Tuesday night for a match-up with the
Glencoe Astros. Kevin Eichenberger put the Astros up
1-0 in the first inning, when he hit a solo home run
off of Indians starter John Ferguson.
However,
Alvinston scored two runs in both the second and
third innings, to take a 4-1 lead, before Glencoe
made things close with two runs of their own by way
of the home run, in their half of the third inning,
for a 4-3 lead for Alvinston.
Alvinston then went back to work in the fourth
inning, when Chris Drew clubbed a two run home run,
to put the Indians up for good, 6-3. This was the
final score in the game, as both teams offences were
quieted in the last three innings.
Scoring for Alvinston were Aaron Stocking (2), Chris
Sheppard, Eric Hyatt, Andy Triest, and Chris Drew.
Drew and Stocking both hit home runs for Alvinston.
Driving in the runs were Jeff Ingram (2), Drew (2),
Hyatt and Stocking.
John
Ferguson was the winning pitcher on the mound for
Alvinston, pitching 4 innings, allowing 3 earned
runs, on 2 hits, and he issued one walk. Doug
Charlton was effective in relief for Alvinston,
pitching three scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit and
1 walk, to preserve the victory for Alvinston.
Ryan
Chapman led the offensive attack for the Indians,
going 3/4 in the contest, with a single, double, and
triple. Brady Davenport was 1/2 for the Indians with
a walk, while Eric Hyatt, Andy Triest, and Jeff
Ingram were all 1/3, but reached base on two
occasions in the game.
The Alvinston Indians now sport a record of 8-3 on
the season, and 6-1 in league play. Their next
action is Sunday afternoon in Alvinston, at 2:00pm,
with a return visit from Glencoe.
