Sarnia,
ON – In their final game of their five game home
stand, the Sarnia Pacers lacrosse team took on
division rival and leader Windsor Clippers, but
unfortunately fell 14-4 in the Sunday night Junior B
lacrosse game.
Windsor
would control the score board for the first period
of the game, shutting out the Pacers, while scoring
eight of their own. Jeff Rivait would score the
first and last goals of the period for Windsor,
while Corey Burchell and Brett Hickey would each add
two of their own, and Lucas Ducharme AP and Steve
Hinek added singles. This saw the Pacers make a goal
change, as Ian Ferguson who started was replaced by
regular starter Justin Matthews.
In the
second period, Burchell would complete his hat-trick
just 1:47 into the period. But nine seconds later,
Dan Charlton would score his 21st of the season to
get Sarnia on the board. Devin Humphrey would
respond for the Clippers to restore the 9 goal lead,
but on the powerplay, Aaron Schieman would score for
the Pacers, followed Charlton scoring his second of
the period. Sarnia was still down 10-3 heading into
the third.
Hinek
would get the scoring started in the third with his
second of the game for Windsor. Sarnia would get
another powerplay goal as Kevin Hussey scored at
4:43. But that would be all for Sarnia as Hickey
would score his third of the game and Burchell would
score his fourth goals of the game, as well as
Nathan Hodgins adding a single goal in the 14-4
victory.
Ferguson
made 9 saves on 17 shots, while Matthews made 30
saves on 36 shots. The Pacers were shutout in the
final two periods against the Spartans on Saturday,
which made for a game held scoreless with no goals
in the first.
Sarnia
(4-11-0) now heads onto the road for the first half
of a home-and-home with London on Wednesday, June
8th, followed by the return home game on Friday,
June 10th.
