Sarnia,
ON - The Sarnia Sturgeon Peewee football team
shutout the Oakville Titans for the second time in
two weekends, handing the Titans another 36-0 loss
Saturday afternoon at Norm Perry Park.
The
Sturgeon defence was shut down in the first quarter,
resulting in excellent field position for the
Sturgeon offence. In the first drive of the game
they forced the Titans to go four and out, stopping
them within their own 20. The offence quickly took
to the field and found the end zone, as Jamie
Campbell ran a counter route on the second play of
the drive, putting the Sturgeon up 8-0 after a two
point conversion was successful.
After a
punt sent the Titans deep into their own end again,
the defence once again gave the offence excellent
field position, as they again for the Titans to go
four and out inside the 30 yard line. Keyshaun
Jordan would run to the goal line, setting up a
Joesph Ferrera 3 yard run for the score. The
Sturgeon would again convert on the two point
conversion and take a 16-0 lead.
The
Titans could not get the offence working, as despite
moving the ball down field, they would fumble, and
the Sturgeon would jump on the ball to turn over
possession. Campbell would get a hand-off and run it
back 25 yards to give Sarnia great field possession
inside the Titans 20 yard line just before the end
of the first quarter.
In the second
quarter, Ferrera would cap off the drive with
another touchdown run, coupled with another
conversion, as the Sturgeon take a 24-0 lead.
The
Titans again on their next offensive drive would
fumble the ball at their own 36 yard line, giving
Sarnia another shot at the end zone, which Cameron
Shaw would find on a long touchdown run, to put the
Sturgeon up 32-0.
Sarnia
would substitute their players in the second half on
route to a 36-0 victory and their second of the
season over Oakville.
