ON - The Sarnia Fury Black U9 were back in action
vs. Club rivals Sarnia Fury U9 in Lambton Kent
District play. On a windy evening at the beautiful
water's edge pitch of Bluewater Bridge Park, both
teams were eager to get their first victory of the
season. Having played against all U10 team's prior
the boy's were ready for even competition.
Sarnia Fury U9's came out strong in the opening
minutes of play. As in previous week's, the Black
Fury found themselves pinned in early, and
eventually the Fury U9's capitalized scoring on a
scramble in front of their goal. Keeping composed,
the boys regrouped and eventually tied the game on a
nice goal from striker Ryan Janssens.
Fury
Black mid-fielder Nathan Hawkes gave them the lead
with a blistering drive from the top of the box.
Black was awarded a penalty kick in the dying
minutes of the first half from a foul incurred the
penalty area. Right mid-fielder James Brown stepped
in to take the penalty kick, only to be denied by
Fury 9's keeper Jack Hutchinson.
With the wind at their backs, Fury Black started the
second half more determined than ever to increase
their lead.
Applied
pressure was awarded with goals, as Black Fury
continued strong offensive flurries. Added goal
scorers were: Carter Barron, Ryan Janssens(2),
Nathan Hawkes(2), Alex Newall, Christian D'Agostini,
Kyle Flamminio and Isaiah Edlington (penalty kick).
Strong performances also evident by defenders: Dean
Palimaka, Nathan Ingles,
Mid-fielders: Tristan Konrad, James Brown and
Striker Mateo Troiani. Andrew Harron stood tall in
goal on a relatively quite night of action.
