Sarnia,
ON - The Sarnia Peewee Sturgeon go undefeated, 8-0
in OFC Football after a 61-14 victory over the
Chatham Cougars Friday night at Norm Perry Park.
Jamie
Campbell lead the Sturgeon attack on the ground,
scoring four touchdowns including a 55 yard
touchdown run in the first quarter and a 65 yard run
in the third quarter. Campbell's two touchdowns in
the first quarter help lead Sarnia to an early 16-8
lead.

Though
the game did not start in Sarnia's favor, as the
Cougars returned the opening kick off for a
touchdown and picked up two points on the convert
after a fumble off the snap for the extra point.
In the
second quarter, the Sturgeon defence took over, as a
fumble by Chatham is recovered by Sarnia which lead
to Campbell's 75 yard touchdown on the next play.
But the defence wasn't done for the quarter, as
Dylan Fais would pick off the quarterback for an
interception after the Sturgeon defensive line put
pressure on the QB, hitting him twice in the
backfield. Fais would earn is second interception of
the quarter to stop a Cougar rush before the end of
the half, as the Sturgeon defence had two
interceptions, one fumble recovery and three
quarterback hurries in the half as they lead 24-8.
In the
second half, the Sturgeon ground offence would
continue to assault the Cougars, as Keyshaun Jordan
would break free for a large gain, setting up
Campbell for one of his four touchdowns, giving
Sarnia a 40-8 lead at the end of the third quarter.
In the
fourth, S arnia's defence would respond again, as Fais would pick off his third pass of the game on a
fourth down try to return the back to the Sturgeon. Joesph Ferrera would bust up the middle for another
Sturgeon touchdown, making the lead four points.
The
Sturgeon defence didn't stop, as Angel Georgeio
would come up with an interception of his own, one
of his two in the game, followed by a 23 yard run by
Hunter Taylor for another Sturgeon touchdown.
Chatham would finally get back on the board as they
run for a 70 yard touchdown, but Taylor would score
his second touchdown of the game on a 38 yard run,
giving the Sturgeon a 61-14 victory.
The
Sturgeon defence finished with five interceptions,
while only allowing a single touchdown while not in
special teams. Campbell racked up over 150 yards
rushing, and back up running back Taylor also had
over 70 yards on the ground as well, as the Sturgeon
offensive line and back field provided key blocks
leading to massive holes for the running backs to
get through.
The
Sturgeon finished the season 8-0 and will head to
the finals next weekend in Toronto. The Sturgeon
allowed only 48 points all season, while scoring
264.
