On July
12, Wallaceburg will have a chance to show all of
Canada what they can do, as residents will have
24-hours to vote for the community in the Kraft
Celebration Tour competition.
Wallaceburg was named one of the Top 20 communities
for the Kraft Celebration Tour, 10 of which will
receive $25,000 for a community improvement project,
and will welcome TSN’s SportsCentre to town for a
live filming of the show.
Wallaceburg only needs to beat one community,
Trenton, in the July 12 voting as Trenton and
Wallaceuburg were paired to go head to head in
voting that day. Voting will take place at
http://www.kraftcelebrationtour.ca/.
Wallaceburg’s nomination came from the local
lacrosse community as they made a plea to have their
outdoor lacrosse facilities upgraded. Currently,
Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse, due to high costs of
floor time, practices several times per summer with
their younger teams at the tennis courts behind
Wallaceburg District Secondary School, however the
tennis courts are cracked and decaying.
Wallaceburg’s nominees also mentioned the fact that
the lacrosse organization lost $70,000 to fraud last
year, an event which has left lacrosse in
Wallaceburg struggling to move forward.
Chatham-Kent and Wallaceburg residents are urged to
vote July 12 as Wallaceburg faces off against
Trenton for a position on the Kraft Celebration
Tour!
