The Point Edward Novice Blackhawks started with 3
unanswered goals in the first period on their way to
a 4-1 win against the visiting Lambton Shores Red
Predators.
Corson
Young opened the scoring at 7:03 in the first,
hammering home a pass from Owen Shearon. Shaun
McDermott continued the offensive drive with goals
at 5:44 (unassisted) and 0:44 (assisted by Jaxon
Lucas).
The teams
traded goals in the second period. Jaxon Lucas
notched the Hawks fourth goal (assisted by Shaun
McDermott and Ryder Nienhuis) at 5:22.
Luke
Crombeen was tested in the second half of the game
with the visiting team coming on strong. The
opposing team managed to find a crack in Crombeen’s
armour, punching one past him with 1:51 left in the
second period.
Both teams
tested the goalies but were held off the scoreboard
in the third period.
Point
Edward is still the best in the west at 15-1-1,
maintaining first place in the Novice West Division
of the Lambton Middlesex League with only 3 games
remaining in the season.
