The
St. Christopher Cyclones had a dominating
performance Tuesday afternoon, as the Cyclones
defeated the St. Clair Colts in LSSAA Junior Girls
Volleyball.
St.
Christopher's started strong on serve as Mackenzie
Vozza served an ace and gave the Colts troubles with
her powerful serve. She pushed the Cyclones to an
early 10-3 lead, causing St. Clair to call a
timeout. After the timeout the Colts gained two
points, but the Cyclones took over again, as
Laurenne d'Esterre puts over two aces of her own.
The Colts would regain three points on Cyclone long
hits, but the aces would continue to haunt the Colts
as they had trouble return service from Nikki Parkes
who hit four aces. Emily Clancy and Kylene d'Esterre
would finish out the set with three more aces,
giving the first set to the Cyclones 25-10.
From there
the Cyclones would pour on a powerful game, relying
heavily on service to blow open the second set.
Jessica Taylor got things started in the second with
four aces to bring the Cyclones a 6-2 lead. Vozza
would add two of her own, as the Colts are not able
to get any kind of rally going to get the ball back
over the net. Vozza would contnue on service putting
fifteen straight points on the board, including four
aces as the Vozza leads the Cyclones to a 25-3
second set victory.
In the
third set, the Cyclones would still not let up and
again continued with a heavy service game. Laurenne
d'Esterre put on a long service rally including,
putting up 13 points including 8 aces on the Colts.
Erin Gabriel would get ace back for the Colts, but
the Colt errors would continue to pile up, as a
final ace by Yasmine Taylor gave the Cyclones a 25-4
victory and 3 set win.
