Lancer's and Cyclones skate to draw and remain tied for first
Andrew brethauer January 17th, 2011

The St. Christopher Cyclones may have lost a step with the long Christmas break, as the Cyclones have no tied their first two games back after a month off. With minutes remaining, LCCVI tied the game, and denied the Cyclones two points.

St. Christopher's got it started early, as Spencer Bronzi steals the puck on a give away inside the Lancer's zone and deke's Brad Jacklin glove side to put the Cyclones quickly up 1-0. It took nearly ten minutes in back and forth action for the Lancer's to reply, when Dallas Fraser find the puck in the slot and snaps a wrist shot passed the Pat Brennan to tie the game at 1-1.

In the second, the Cyclones would use their speed, as Joe DeSena would recieve a long pass from Ben Morrison and be sent in all alone, once again dekeing Jacklin and sliding the puck in to put the Cyclones up 2-1. But this time it didn't take the Lancer's long to reply, as forty-seven seconds after that, Troy Whitely would put home a rebound to tie things up once again. But this time, the Cyclones would respond later in the period, as DeSena would score his second of the game, as he is left all alone after the Lancer defence pinched on a incoming skater, and with a wide open shot, DeSena slapped it passed Jacklin to put the Cyclones up by one at the end of the second.

Both teams picked up their hitting in the third, as each goalie made critical saves to keep their team in the game. But with the closing minutes of the game and the Lancer's on a powerplay, Josh Moore would send a wrister on net that would be Brennan glove side, and tie the game at 3. Both teams would skate hard to score, and LCCVI even rang the post in the final two minutes, but neither team could skate to the victory and the final ended it a 3-3 tie.

With the tie, St. Chris still has not suffered a loss and sits in first place with a 5-2-0 record. LCCVI shares first place in points with 11 and a 5-2-1 record, but have played one more game then the Cyclones. That game will go Tuesday afteroon, as St. Christopher's takes on SCITS.
