The Sarnia Jr. Sting Minor Atom MD hosted the London
Nationals at the Clearwater arena on Friday January
14 and came away with a 5 – 1 victory.
London started the scoring with 2 minutes left in
the first period on a low shot that fooled the Jr.
Sting Goalie Cameron Stevens. That would be the only
goal the Cam would let in as he stood tall and
denied the Nationals on several opportunities.
Defensemen Gavin Lauzon would put Sarnia on the
score sheet at the 10 minute mark of the second as
he picked up a puck in the high slot and flipped a
shot over the London goalie. Collin Zimmer picked up
an assist on the Lauzon marker. Zac Moore would
score the game winner unassisted with 4 minutes left
in the second frame. In the third period Mathew Waun
would score with an assist going to Beynon Jonas.
Hayden Griffin would add more insurance as he filled
the net with the help of Nathan Oliphant. With 41
seconds left in the game Nathan would get a goal of
his own with assists going to Zander Campbell and
Hayden Griffin. Stevie Schaefer played the second
half of the game and was perfect during his turn
between the pipes for the Jr. Sting.
