The
Sarnia Legionnaires will try to snap a frustrating
losing streak Thursday.
Coach Dan Rose's Greater Ontario Junior Hockey
League squad is home to the London Nationals, with
game time at the Brock Street Barn set for 7:10 p.m.
Sarnia has lost three games in a row, although all
three have been close. Two of the defeats have come
on the road.
With the setbacks, the Legionnaires have fallen back
to the .500 mark with a 17-17-3 record.
But
if anything, Thursday's contest could be even
tougher than the last three games. That's because
the Nats are in first place in the Western
conference with a 28-8-0 record.
New players
London, which is in a close battle with Strathroy
for first place, has added 20-year-old power forward
Jamie Commerford to its lineup. The veteran was
obtained earlier this week in a trade with the St.
Marys Lincolns.
Sarnia has acquired two new players of its own in
recent days, including goalie Sean Parker and
defenceman Connor MacIvor.
Parker came in a trade with Lambton Shores, while
MacIvor was picked up in a cash transaction with the
Fort Erie Meteors of the Golden Horseshoe
Conference. Both are 17-year-olds.
MacIvor is 6'4 and weighs 205 pounds.
The
replacements come at a time when the Legionnaires
have been hit hard by the injury bug.
Forward Tyler Cicchini and defenceman Tanner
Ferguson were both hurt last week. Ferguson, who
suffered a broken collar bone, could be out for many
weeks.
