The Sarnia Lady Sting remain in second place out of
a ten team division. They are only two points out of
first spot having gone on a winning streak.
Sarnia was home on Sunday to the Windsor Wildcats.
Their first meeting of the season. The Sting would
open the scoring in the first period. Jillian Rops
hard work carrying the puck end to end and still
getting off a great shot, would lead to Megan Moore
popping in the rebound. Minutes later, Sarnia's
Marlowe Pecora would score on a hard dump in as she
was heading off. Sierra Butler would assist on the
play. On to the second period, the very hot Jillian
Rops would find the back of the net to bring Sarnia
up 3-0. Karly Dobbin and Megan Moore would assist.
The Stings final goal came in the third on a pass
from goalie Cassie Kerrigan to defenseman Dani
Girard, who sent a bullet pass the Windsor goalie.
Windsor did manage to score one late in the third to
steal a well deserved shut out from Cassie Kerrigan,
who made many great saves.
Sarnia's second game, also against Windsor was a
Provincial play down game. Unfortunately Sarnia was
not to steal this one. Windsor scored early in the
first period, but the Sting answered back with one
of their own from centerman Karly Dobbin. Assists
went to Megan Moore and Maddison Turner. Into the
second Windsor would go up again, but four seconds
later Sarnia would tie things up on a hard shot from
Megan Moore. Karly Dobbin pick up the only assist. A
poor start to the third period led to Windsor
scoring two quick ones. Things were not looking good
for Sarnia with only 2:23 seconds left on the clock,
but Darian Adams would find a stray puck and weave
her way in to fire one past the Wildcats net minder.
Unbelievable, Sarnia would tie things up with :46 on
the clock, when a scrabble in front of the net would
lead to Jillian Rops sliding in a lose puck. Both
teams would leave with a point each.
Sarnia plays their second Provincial Playdown this
coming Weds. night at Germain Arena 8:00 pm vs.
Chatham..
