Sarnia Lady Sting tie for first place with two wins

The Sarnia Lady Sting Midget AA team is currently tied for first place in the standings with the Bluewater Sharks after winning both games in their double header on Saturday in Windsor.

Sarnia easily won their opening game 4-0. Erika Sullivan earned the shutout. Goal scorers from game one were Sierra Butler, Karly Dobbin and Megan Moore with an empty net goal. Assisting were, Marlowe Pecora, Jillian Rops and Emily Williams.

Game two ended early because an injury delayed the game, which led to the curfew being enforced. Final score 2-0 with 8 minutes remaining. Goal scores were Amy

VandenEynde and Sierra Butler. Assisting on the play, Emily Williams, Marlowe Pecora and Danielle Girard. Cassie Kerrigan earned the shutout.

Sarnia faces their rival Bluewater Sharks team at home on Sunday to decide who steal top spot in the Midget AA division.

On a side note, Sarnia is in the midst of Provincial Playdowns. They defeated the Chatham Outlaws easily at home on Weds. evening 3-0. Defenseman Danni Girard opened the scoring for Sarnia in the first period on a nice pass from Jillian Rops. Minutes later Sarnia would go up again on a great rush from the always dangerous centerman Karly Dobbin, who worked her way by everyone to put the puck in the net, unassisted. Sarnia would finish them off in the third, on an empty net goal by Jillian Rops. Sierra Butler and Sydney Smith assisted. Cassie Kerrigan stood very strong in this game, making many great saves to earn yet another shut out. Sarnia now has 3 points out of a possible 4. They face Windsor Friday the 14th, in Windsor. A win would earn them a spot in the Provincial Championships.
