sarniasports.com january 4th, 2011

The Lambton Shores Predators came up just short in their game against Strathroy, as they fall 6-5 despite scoring four unanswered goals.

Strathroy started off the scoring, as Walter Easter made it 1-0 for the Rockets, and Alex Avery made it 2-0 after the first period. The Predators were outshot 13-8 and could not score despite having two powerplays.

In the second, the Rockets shot off to a fast start, as Tyler Bryden scored his 13th of the year 1:49 into the period. Lambton Shores would finally break the scoring streak, as Cam Downie put in the first for the Predators to cut the lead to two. But Strathroy would push their lead further, as Bryden got his second of the game, and Troy Craid and Craig Campbell each added goals as well to make the game 6-1. Despite being down by five, the Predators would make a game of it, as Samir Jomaa scored on the powerplay at the end of the second to cut the lead to four.

The Predators took over in the third, scoring two goals just thirty seconds apart, as Kalvin Thorton and Chris Taylor made it 6-4. But the Predators could not put another one past  Marc Nother through the middle of the period. They would bring it to within one with an extra attacked as Brendon Merritt got his 14th of the year with just twenty-three seconds left. The Predators were within one, but with no time left, they fall to the Rockets 6-5.

Reid Rankin made 40 saves on 46 shots in the loss. The Predators will next take on Leamington on Saturday, January 8th.
