Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League
announced that forward Joey Hishon of the Owen Sound
Attack is the OHL Player of the Week for the week
ending January 2. Hishon, a repeat winner of the
award this season, had 11 points in three games
scoring five goals and six assists with a plus-minus
rating of plus-2.
Hishon led the Attack to three wins following the
Winter Break including a 6-5 comeback win over the
Ottawa 67’s to open 2011 on Saturday. He scored the
tying goal and the game-winner late in the third
period while adding three assists for his second
five-point game of the season as first star of the
contest. Hishon also contributed to the offense in a
pair of wins over the Barrie Colts to wrap up 2010
including a goal and an assist Tuesday in a 7-6
shootout win, and two goals and two assists
Wednesday in an 8-5 win over the Colts.
Hishon, a 19-year-old from Stratford, ON, is playing
in his fourth OHL season with the Attack. The first
round selection of the Colorado Avalanche in the
2010 NHL Entry Draft is currently sixth in league
scoring with 53 points in 27 games.
Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67’s and Taylor
Carnevale of the Barrie Colts were both strongly
considered. Both players had 10 points in three
games with Toffoli’s week highlighted by a five-goal
game Wednesday as first star of a 9-0 win over the
Kingston Frontenacs. Carnevale produced two
five-point games including a goal and four assists
Friday night as first star of a 6-4 win over the
Ottawa 67’s. In goal, Mavric Parks of the Saginaw
Spirit won two games in three starts including a 4-0
shutout win with 33 saves as first star of a 4-0 win
over the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors on Sunday.
