Sarnia, On –
Sarnia Sting General Manager Dave MacQueen has
announced that the hockey club has completed a trade
with the Windsor Spitfires.
The Sting have traded overage defenceman Brent
Sullivan and 19-year old goaltender John Cullen to
the Spitfires in exchange for overage goaltender
Troy Passingham and an 8th round pick in
the 2011 OHL Priority Selection
“We are excited about the acquisition of Troy
Passingham. We felt like it was crucial for our
young, talented core of players to have a player
with Troy’s experience come to our club and help
guide these guys and show some of our young players
what it takes to win. Troy is a proven winner in
this league and has been to a Memorial Cup. We are
confident he will help our young players in their
development moving forward. We are thrilled with
the progress Brandon Hope has made this year as a
16-year old goaltender and bringing in someone with
Troy’s experience will only help in his further
development as well.”
MacQueen would comment further, “We would like to
wish both Brent and John all the best in Windsor
with the Spitfires. Brent and John are quality
individuals who were very good leaders in our
dressing room.”
The Sting will actually host the Spitfires tonight
at the RBC Centre. Game time is 7:00.
The OHL Trade Deadline is this coming Monday January
10th.
MacQueen indicates the Sting still have more work to
do. “This trade has also opened up a spot on our
roster as we move forward heading into the
deadline. While nothing is imminent we will be
working throughout the weekend looking at anything
that will improve our hockey club both in the short
term and moving forward in the next couple of
years.” |
