LSSAA results from Thursday, January 6th

All sports in the LSSAA were in action on Thursday afternoon and evening for the final games of the week.

In senior boys basketball, the Northern Vikings doubled up and more on the North Lambton Eagles, 72-32 for their fifth win of the season. Player of the game went to Carter Winberg while defensive player of the game went to Tom Dowding. For the Eagles, Mike Lucier scored 12 points in the loss. Northern is now 5-1 and in second place while North Lambton is 1-4.

In other senior boys action. St. Christopher's remains undefeated with a 65-33 victory over St. Patrick's. Joe Rocca scored 23 for the Cyclones, while Martin Popiel and Rodney Reese each had 9. Harry Oh had 15 for St. Patrick's and Domnic Bucci had 5. The Cyclines are now 7-0 while St. Patrick's is 2-4.

Finally, St. Clair defeated SCITS 44-22 for their fourth win of the season, while SCITS goes to 1-4. Holmes had 15 for the Colts, while Moore had 12 and Spearman had 8. Brandon Kerrigan had 12 for the Bombers, and Cody Wilson and Jason Dobson had 7 each.

In junior boys basketball, St. Clair also defeated SCITS 44-29. B. Churchill had 16 for the Colts and F. Smith had 8. For the Bombers, T. Mackenzie had 9 while K. Smith had 6 points. St. Clair goes to 3-3 on the season while SCITS still remains without a win.

To round out the basketball action. St. Patrick's edged out St. Christopher's 36-34 in midget boys basketball. With the win, St. Patrick's remains undefeated at 6-0, while St. Christopher's falls to 1-2.

In volleyball, LCCVI topped St. Francois-Xavier 3-0 in senior girls volleyball. The Lancers won each set, 25-19, 25-10, and 25-13 to give St. Francois their fifth loss of the season, as they have a 2-5 record, while the Lancers improve to 6-2. Carlene Whitlock was the player of the match for LCCVI, while Hayley Paige-Potvin had the honours for St. Francois.

In other senior girls action, Northern win a close match against North Lambton 2-1. Northern won its sets 25-12, 25-14, and nearly won the third set, but fell just short 25-22. Alicia Veens was named the player of the match from North Lambton.

In junior girls volleyball, the Vikings beat the Eagles 3-0 in straight sets. They won 25-20, 25-15 and 25-13 to win their seventh of the season, while North Lambton falls to 1-3. Player of the match for North Lambton was Aleisha Wiendels.

There was also games in boys and girls hockey, as St. Christopher's shut out SCITS in girls hockey, 4-0. Janelle Labadie had 3 goals and 1 assist in the game, while Kassie Roache added the other goal and had 2 assists. Cassie Kerrigan had the shutout for the Cyclones.

Finally in boys hockey, the St. Clair colts pulled off a small upset by defeating the undefeated LCCVI Lancers 4-3. Dan Lumley had 2 assists in the game, while Dan Hachey had a goal and an assist. Seth Hellinga made 30 saves in the victory. With the win, St. Clair moves into third place with a 4-2 record, while LCCVI is in second going 4-1-1.

Northern versus North Lambton was postponed this week.
