Sarnia, On –
The Sarnia Sting Hockey Club has announced that
defenceman Ron Soucie has been re-assigned and will
join the Leamington Flyers of the Greater Ontario
Junior Hockey League.
Soucie cleared Ontario
Hockey League waivers on Thursday and was
subsequently sent to the Flyers.
General Manager Dave MacQueen explains the move.
“With the acquisition of Jack Kuzmyk we felt that we
needed to give some of our younger defencemen a
chance to play and develop. Having four 1991 born
players on our back end it was a numbers game and we
needed to make room for the younger guys to play.”
MacQueen adds, “Ron is
a first-class individual and I wish him nothing but
the best in Leamington and beyond in both his hockey
and academic future.“
Soucie was originally
acquired by the Sting prior to the 2009-2010 season.
