In their first game in just over two weeks, Point
Edward Peewee Blackhawks hosted the Strathroy
Rockets.
The Point Edward Blackhawks came out slow and steady
in the first Period with back and forth play against
the Rockets. The Hawks took a penalty later in the
period, but solid play kept the Rockets from making
their mark. The Rocket’s put together a very
aggressive period that ended with a 0-0 score.
In the second period, Strathroy came out just as
forceful and got a lucky bounce off of a Hawk’s
defenseman stick to get the opening goal to make the
game 1-0. Before long the Hawks took a penalty deep
in their zone. On the face off, Marcus Saint pushed
the puck forward to Blake Taylor who took off with
the puck taking it up the left side. Weaving in and
out of a few Strathroy players left Blake on a
breakaway which led to a shorthanded goal to tie up
the game 1-1. Strathroy responded during the same
penalty with a goal to make it 2-1. Before the end
of the 2nd period, Strathroy was able to produce yet
another goal against Brandon Fortey and the Hawks
defence.
The third period brought the Blackhawks back into
the game with Daniel Marr putting the puck in the
net with a pass from Jonathan Boccanfuso. Strathroy
kept putting on the pressure but the Hawks did not
let up. With only a minute left in the third period,
the Hawks pulled Brandon Fortey out of the net to
create a 6 on 5 attempt to regain the game.
Strathroy continued with a strong front and kept the
Hawks from tying up the game.
