The Blenheim blades have moved into the final
playoff spot in the North Division with a 6-5
victory over the Alvinston Flyers.
Blenheim
came out scoring in the first, as Thomas Innes made
it 1-0 for the Blades, while Ben Campbell made it
2-0 just twenty-one seconds later. Aidan Wiebenga
would make it 3-0 for the Blades before Ryan Zavitz
could finally answer for the Flyers to get them on
the board in the middle of the first, as the Blades
take a 3-1 first period lead.
In the
second Alvinston would start to close the gap as
Chris Edwards scored his 27th of the season to make
it 3-2, but Andrew France would respond eighteen
seconds later to restore the Blades two goal lead.
Alvinston would respond just as quick, as thirteen
seconds later Tyler Drope made it 4-3. The Flyers
would then tie the game as Chad Rainesberry made it
4-4. But Blenheim would still skate away with the
lead in the second as Andrew France scored his
second of the period on the powerplay.
In the
third, Blenheim would restore their two goal lead as
Thomas Innes scored his second of the game,
shorthanded. Chris Edwards would also get his second
of the game as the Flyers come to within one, but
that is as close as they would come, as Blenheim
takes the two points and the final playoff spot with
a 6-5 victory.
Taylor
Speed made 24 saves in the victory, while Alvinston
switched goalies, as Matt Ferguson made 16 saves on
20 shots and Brandon Campbell made 16 saves on 18
shots in the loss.
Alvinston

play next on Friday, February 4th for their final

moves one point ahead of Dresden for the final
playoff spot. Dresden lost on Friday and has played
two more games then Blenheim, who have three games
still to play. Blenheim next takes on Wallaceburg
