sarniasports.com January 27th, 2011

The Alvinston Flyers got a big boost of confidence heading into the playoffs with a big win over the division leading Wallaceburg Lakers 3-0 on Wednesday night.

Alvinston got on the board in the first period with an early first period goal by Kyle Brothers for his 15th of the season from Joe Archer and Dan Warner to give the Flyers the first period 1-0 lead.

In the second period, Archer and Warner would hook up Brothers again, as he scores his second of the night and 16th of the season to put the Flyers ahead 2-0. Wallaceburg could not get anything going and as their shots did not generate any rebounds.

Chris Wdwards would ice the game in the third with an empty net goal as the Flyers shutout the Lakers 3-0.

Brandon Campbell made all 33 saves to earn his second shutout of the season and 15th win on the year. Matt Berglund made 22 saves on 24 shots in the loss.

Alvinston will take on Blenheim on Friday, January 28th before wrapping up their season a week later against Mooretown.

Wallaceburg still has four games on the season, as they face Mooretown next on January 29th and against on Febuary 2nd, plus a home and home with Blenheim in between those dates.
