The Jr Sting PeeWee's have been busy with
league games and as a result of going 3 wins against
just one loss in their last 4 outings have managed
to secure themselves at least second place in the
Western Division of the Alliance Pavilion league
standings.
Before the Christmas break the squad travelled to
London and played a solid game that saw them unable
to beat the Jr Knight goaltender on more than one
occasion on route to a 3-1 loss. Kaden Fulcher had
the start in net and made some excellent saves to
keep things close. Jack Dunn on a deflection from
Dawson Vautour was the only scoring for the Jr
Sting.
To get the new year started the Lambton team headed
to Essex to battle the Sun County Panthers and in a
close checking, disciplined game came away with a
well deserved 2-0 victory. Anthony Hurtubise
recorded the shutout and was solid when called upon
between the pipes. Scoring was provided by Brock
Perry from Isaac McLean on a nice give-and-go effort
and the victory was sealed with an open-net marker
by Ryan Greenaway from Ethan Dupont in the final
minute of the game.
The following night the Jr Sting hosted the CK
Cyclones in the chilly confines of the RBC Centre
Rink 2. In a more offensive dual the home team
relied on a balanced scoring attack to come away
with a 5-3 victory over their division rivals.
Scoring for Lambton were Greenaway with 2 and
singles to Dupont, Jarett Marks and Alec Dekoning.
Assists went to Dupont with 2 and Greenaway, Marks,
Dekoning, Franco Sproviero, Perry and Morgan
Halcovitch all with singles. In a late game sword
wielding contest the Lambton squad was caught off
guard and acknowledged not being adequately prepared
for the unannounced match.
Finally, for their third game in three nights, the
team travelled through blizzard conditions to the
frozen confines of the Glencoe arena to battle
division leaders Elgin Middlesex Chiefs. After the
teams feeling each other out in the first period the
Jr Sting would flash the red light twice in each of
the final periods to come away with a hard fought
4-2 victory and pull within a single point of first
place in the Western Division. Scoring was provided
by Dekoning, Brett Barnes, Marks and Halcovitch with
single assists going to McLean and Greenaway and
Dekoning adding a pair.
