The York Simcoe Express needed overtime to defeat
the Mississauga Rebels for the Atom AAA Silver Stick
champions, as they won on a wrap around, 3-2.
The
Express started the second period down one as
Santino Foti put the Rebels on the board first to
make it 1-0. The Express would tie the game, as Ryan
Littlejohn put in a late second period goal to tie
the game going into the third.
The Rebels
would again retake the lead, as James Fletcher put
them back in front 2-1 with his early third period
goal. But the Express would reply quickly, as Will
McHenry made it 2-2 just seconds after the Rebels
goal.
The game
would need an overtime period, and in the extra
time, Dennis Busby would get the puck behind the net
and wrap around the post and slide the puck home for
the victory and the championship.
