Woodstock wins Atom A finals
andrew brethauer January 23rd, 2011

The Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets went a perfect 5-0 in the Silver Stick tournament and captured the Atom A championship with a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Penguins.

Woodstock started the scoring on the powerplay as Joshua Wright made it 1-0. Woodstock would push the lead to 2-0 when Ty Payne put in goal to give the Navy Vets a led. But the Penguins would respond on the powerplay themselves, as Patrick Hannon cut the lead to 2-1 with his powerplay goal.

In the second period, the Navy Vets would re-establish their two goal lead as Colt Corpse put the Vets back out in front. The Penguins wouldn't be able to cut into the lead in the second and would take the game into the third still down by two.

The Penguins would cut into the lead once more with a late third period goal as Eric Parker scored on the powerplay to make it 3-2. But that is as close as they would come, as the Navy Vets went on to a 3-2 final and won the Atom A finals.
